Automation Engineer, Protein Therapeutics

Role: Laboratory-based Automation Engineer within Gilead’s Protein Sciences team, focused on designing, implementing, and supporting scalable automation solutions to advance biologics discovery in Virology, Inflammation, and Oncology. Responsibilities include developing high-throughput workflows, integrating laboratory automation systems, optimizing processes to improve throughput and data quality, and supporting automation platform programming and troubleshooting. The role involves collaborating with scientific teams to identify automation opportunities, documenting procedures, and evaluating emerging technologies. Qualifications: 10+ years with a BS, 8+ years with an MS, or 2+ years with a PhD/PharmD in biochemistry, molecular biology, engineering, or related fields. Preferred skills include experience with high-throughput laboratory automation, robotics, liquid handling, workflow scheduling, and biologics development such as antibody discovery. Familiarity with programming languages (Python, Java, C++) and laboratory informatics platforms is advantageous. The position requires strong communication skills, independence, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
