Role Summary

The Automation Engineer identifies, recommends, implements, and supports automation-based solutions that address business needs. As part of the process team, the automation engineer is responsible for ensuring the integration of the manufacturing process train equipment is robust and follows industry standard architecture. You will be providing support for various automation projects in any of the following focus areas: automation control logic, batch control, human interface design, automation data collection and visualization.

Responsibilities

  • Implement technology-based solutions to support site objectives and to ensure compliance with regulations and continuously improve the manufacturing processes through automation to enhance robustness and reliability.
  • Investigate GMP non-conformances and provide solutions to correct system issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair problems with automated control systems associated with process equipment or facility utilities.
  • Ensure systems maintain compliance with relevant local and corporate quality, engineering, and computer systems policies and procedures.
  • Assist with researching, creating, reviewing, and approving validation deliverables and documentation as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Required: BS in Engineering or AS with 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Required: Exceptional learning agility and desire to immerse in a highly technical job.
  • Required: Proven experience with PLCs and HMIs.
  • Preferred: Previous manufacturing experience with industrial control systems including workstation and server platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience within a regulated industry.
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of Rockwell PLCs and HMIs
  • Preferred: Experience with ICONICS HMI/SCADA application.
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of capital projects as automation engineer.

Additional Requirements

  • Location: Fort Dodge, Iowa
  • 8-hour shift (flexible work schedule possible). Work hours may need to be adjusted as determined by the manufacturing process.
  • Work is usually performed Monday through Friday; may be called in on weekends or evenings if a process/project need occurs.
