The Automation Engineer maintains, troubleshoots, improves, and expands automation systems supporting manufacturing, packaging, facilities, and utilities at the Perrigo Bronx site. Serves as technical expert for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, industrial networks, BMS, serialization, and automated manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise/develop automation team; set priorities; coach/mentor; manage contractors/integrators; establish automation standards.
- Own manufacturing/packaging automation systems; support PLC/HMI/SCADA/BMS/vision/serialization/aggregation/data collection; manage lifecycle, backups, and disaster recovery; ensure cGMP/FDA/data integrity compliance.
- Lead troubleshooting/root-cause investigations; develop corrective/preventive actions; improve reliability and OEE.
- Lead/support automation portion of capital plan; support upgrades, new launches, modernization roadmaps; identify automation/digital improvement opportunities; support predictive monitoring and digital platforms (e.g., RedZone, electronic batch records/cards, POMS, MES).
- Maintain and troubleshoot industrial control networks; support OT cybersecurity/network architecture with Corporate IT.
- Participate in change control; author/review validation documentation; support IQ/OQ/PQ; support audits/regulatory inspections.

Qualifications:
- Required: BS in Electrical/Automation/Controls/Mechanical or related; 7–10 years automation/controls/manufacturing systems; prior supervisory/people management; Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC/HMI and industrial network experience; troubleshooting and reliability improvement; FDA-regulated/cGMP environment; strong communication/leadership/project management.
- Preferred: Pharmaceutical/cGMP; serialization & vision inspection; BMS; utility systems (Purified Water, HVAC, Compressed/Chilled Air/Water); ISA-88/95, GAMP; OSI PI/Historian/MES/data systems; RedZone/POMS/eBR/eBCards/OT; AutoCAD & control panel design; lead automation projects/contractors.

Compensation/Benefits: Base salary range $130,000–$150,000. Competitive compensation plus benefits and career development.
