Role Summary

Automation Engineer responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving process automation solutions within Indy Parenteral to ensure that business goals are achieved, and that automation systems are in-control, capable, and compliant.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve process automation solutions within Indy Parenteral to achieve business goals.
  • Ensure process automation solutions / systems are in-control, capable, and compliant.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following safety rules and promoting safety culture.
  • Participate in safety activities (audits, JSAโ€šร„รดs, hazard reviews) to drive safety improvements.
  • Provide automation expertise as an active member of the area process team.
  • Acquire technical expertise of equipment and processes in area of responsibility.
  • Establish and monitor/trend control systems to verify and optimize equipment performance.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for difficult equipment and operational problems.
  • Use formal problem-solving techniques, including Root Cause Analysis, to resolve equipment issues.
  • Respond to and implement customer requests related to equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with process team members, operations, engineering tech, and crafts personnel.
  • Implement corrections, corrective actions, and countermeasures arising from CAPAs.
  • Lead or participate in verification and qualification activities, including commissioning of new equipment or areas.
  • Define system user requirements, design system architectures, and develop code.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities related to equipment in the area.
  • Utilize project management skills to provide software development timelines and milestones.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or equivalent work experience)
  • Required: Adequate interpersonal and communications skills to work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Required: Strong computer skills in software packages (Excel, JMP, etc.)
  • Required: Ability to work safely to ensure the safety of self and others
  • Preferred: Previous experience as a process or automation engineer, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Preferred: Knowledge of GMPs and pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Preferred: Strong problem-solving skills in measurements, control, and data
  • Preferred: Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills and attention to detail; adaptable to changing priorities
  • Preferred: Experience with automation platforms, preferably Rockwell Automation Systems
