Role Summary
Associate Scientist, RSX Core (Protein Expression Sciences). You will be responsible for producing therapeutic protein candidates and reagent proteins used in the early discovery stage of drug development, by performing ExpiCHO transient transfections or generating Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) stable cell lines using proprietary technology.
Responsibilities
- Culturing multiple CHO cell lines.
- Performing transfections for the transient expression of recombinant proteins.
- Creating stable CHO cell lines expressing recombinant proteins.
- Producing recombinant proteins from transient or stable CHO cells.
- Characterizing protein expression by electrophoresis, Western blotting and other methods.
- Compiling and analyzing data, recording data in electronic lab notebook and databases.
- Maintaining lab equipment and supplies.
Qualifications
- Required: Experience with aseptic techniques used in mammalian cell culture.
- Preferred: Strong background in molecular biology, cell biology and protein chemistry; lab-based research experience.
- Preferred: Experience expressing proteins in E. coli, yeast, insect cells, or mammalian cells.
- Preferred: Organized, detail-oriented; good communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
Education
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) with 1–3 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree (M.S.) with 1 year of relevant experience, or equivalent.
