Associate Scientist, Downstream Processing

Role: Associate Scientist in Downstream Processing supporting biologics purification process development for protein therapeutics at Johnson & Johnson. Primary objectives include designing and executing bench-scale experiments involving chromatography and filtration to optimize early-phase clinical manufacturing of biotherapeutics like monoclonal antibodies and bi/conjugates. Responsibilities involve process characterization, scale-up, technology transfer, and cross-functional collaboration with upstream, analytical, and manufacturing teams, alongside authoring technical and regulatory documents. Requirements: B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field with 0-5 years (or M.S. with 0-3 years) of relevant experience; familiarity with protein purification, bioprocessing, experimental design; strong communication, organizational skills, and proficiency in MS Office. Preferred qualifications include experience with Akta FPLC systems, bioprocessing techniques, statistical design software, and analytical methods. The role focuses on early-phase process development supporting preclinical and clinical manufacturing of biologics, with emphasis on product quality, recovery, and manufacturing feasibility.
