Role Summary

Associate Scientist – Discovery Proteomics, based in Thousand Oaks, CA. This role focuses on high-throughput mass spectrometry-based proteomics to support target and drug discovery, pipeline advancement, and screening platforms through automated sample preparation and analysis of diverse proteomic assays. The successful candidate will contribute to high-throughput drug screening and pipeline support as part of the Discovery Proteomics team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample preparation for mass spectrometry–based proteomic analyses using automated liquid handling systems.
  • Analyze, document, and report results from a variety of mass spectrometry–based proteomic assays.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot high-throughput mass spectrometers (e.g., Astral, timsTOF HT).
  • Operate and maintain additional laboratory equipment, including liquid handlers.
  • Manage laboratory supplies and maintain inventory; enforce and uphold lab safety standards.
  • Actively contribute to seminars and meetings through participation and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Required: Master’s degree and 1 year of laboratory experience
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of laboratory experience
  • Required: Complete understanding and use of technical principles, theories, and concepts to perform a wide range of scientific work
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of scientific laboratory experience
  • Preferred: Technical understanding of mass spectrometry principles and data analysis methods for quantitative proteomics
  • Preferred: Proficiency in LC-MS sample preparation for diverse proteomics assays utilizing automated liquid handling platforms (e.g., Opentrons, Agilent Bravo AssayMAP, KingFisher)
  • Preferred: Proven experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining high-resolution mass spectrometers (e.g., Astral, timsTOF HT)
  • Preferred: Ability to work effectively in a highly integrated, collaborative team environment, with excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, and a proven track record of producing reliable and reproducible results
