Role Summary
We are looking for someone to join our dynamic team in a critical role involving the veterinary care of pigs. The Associate Veterinarian/Research Veterinarian position is a hands-on role that is responsible for performing day-to-day operations at the swine research facility. This involves activities related to routine veterinary care of the USDA covered species, surgical / post-operative care and procedures, disease testing, euthanasia and others. Must be able to maintain animal health and other USDA/FDA related record and be able to follow SOPs.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily veterinary care to pigs at the swine facility
- Perform surgical and post-operative procedures, disease testing, and euthanasia as required
- Maintain animal health and comply with USDA/FDA records and SOPs
Qualifications
- Minimum for Associate Research Veterinarian:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with 2+ years of experience in a veterinary practice
- 1+ years of experience providing veterinary care to pigs
- 1+ years of experience performing medical tests, observing behavior, collecting samples, administering medications
- Must not have any other interactions with pigs outside of the company
- Physical Demand: Lift 75 lbs to waist level; Carry 50 lbs; Push/Pull 200 lbs on wheels

- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with 5+ years of experience in veterinary practice
- 3+ years of experience providing veterinary care to pigs
- 3+ years of experience performing medical tests, observing behavior, collecting samples, administering medications
- Licensed Medical Veterinarian Virginia License to Practice Veterinary Medicine, USDA Level II Accreditation, Eligible for DEA License
- Proficient in surgical skills and able to perform abdominal and general surgery including caesarian section
- Must not have any other interactions with pigs outside of the company
- Physical Demand: Lift 75 lbs to waist level; Carry 50 lbs; Push/Pull 200 lbs on wheels
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed Medical Veterinarian Virginia License to Practice Veterinary Medicine, USDA Level II Accreditation, Eligible for DEA License
- Proficient in surgical skills and able to perform abdominal and general surgery including caesarian section
