Associate Principal Scientist, Preclinical Research
Reports to: Vice President, Preclinical Research
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team executing R&D experiments, designing/implementing assays, and supporting reagent production.
- Support new preclinical discovery projects by designing and executing critical experiments with lab scientists.
- Oversee planning, timely execution, and interpretation of team laboratory work per program timelines.
- Identify critical resources needed to meet discovery objectives (people, equipment, supplies, space).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with peers/senior management to set objectives, align on priorities, communicate results/status, and meet company objectives.
- Serve as a molecular biology and gene delivery subject matter expert to drive process improvements and new technology implementation.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Molecular Biology/Cell Biology (or similar).
- 2+ years of biotechnology industry experience.
- Advanced molecular biology expertise: assay development and implementation.
- Experience enabling gene delivery to primary T-cells (e.g., lentiviral vectors, lipid nanoparticles, AAV).
- Strong leadership/management and ability to work in cross-functional environments.
- Ability to clearly communicate in writing and via scientific presentations.
- Desire to work in a growing, early-stage, cutting-edge science organization.
- Flexibility to evaluate new technologies and coach junior team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior management of direct reports in biotechnology.
- Hands-on gene delivery to primary T-cells (lipid nanoparticles and viral vectors).
- Experience in a fast-paced startup biotech environment.
- In vivo CAR-T studies in murine and non-human primate models.
- Experience supporting IND-enabling studies.
