Associate General Counsel, R&D Innovation Legal

Role: Associate General Counsel supporting AbbVie's R&D organization with a focus on legal and regulatory issues impacting pipeline development and product innovation. Responsibilities: provide strategic legal counsel to senior leaders on FDA regulations, drug development laws, and policies such as the Inflation Reduction Act; advise on critical regulatory filings and agency interactions related to investigational and marketed drugs; educate internal stakeholders on emerging laws and trends; proactively identify complex legal challenges and develop innovative solutions; support long-term pipeline strategies. Requirements: J.D., admitted to at least one U.S. state bar; 10+ years (preferably 12+) in life sciences legal practice, including FDA, pharmaceutical industry, or law firms; deep expertise in FDA regulations, drug development, orphan drug designations, clinical trial requirements, and policies affecting innovation; experience with government health agencies is highly desirable. Preferred: familiarity with the Inflation Reduction Act, Most Favored Nation policies, and CMS impacts.
