Associate General Counsel, R&D Innovation Legal

Role: Senior legal advisor supporting AbbVie's R&D organization on complex regulatory and legal issues impacting pipeline development and product innovation. Responsibilities: provide strategic counsel to senior leaders on FDA regulations, regulatory filings, agency engagements, and emerging laws like the Inflation Reduction Act; educate cross-functional teams on legal trends; proactively identify legal risks and develop creative solutions; support legal aspects of drug development strategies. Requirements: J.D., admitted in at least one U.S. state; 10+ years (12+ preferred) in life sciences law, with substantial FDA regulatory expertise, including drug development, exclusivities, orphan designations, and clinical trial data; experience with government health authorities and familiarity with relevant policies; strong communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams; willingness to work in-office in North Chicago or Washington, D.C. area three days/week.
