Associate General Counsel, Patent Prosecution

Role: In-house Associate General Counsel specializing in Patent Prosecution within AbbVie's Intellectual Property team, focusing on pharmaceutical products with a particular emphasis on neuroscience. Responsibilities: develop and execute patent strategies to strengthen AbbVie's market position, provide legal guidance to R&D and business teams on IP matters, oversee patent application drafting, filing, and prosecution globally (including managing outside counsel), and handle patent challenges through post-grant proceedings. Conduct prior art searches, analyze third-party patent landscapes, and support business development with due diligence. Requirements: JD from an accredited law school, bar admission, USPTO registration, 8+ years of patent law experience including U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, preferably in small molecules or biologics, with technical expertise in molecular biology, biotechnology, chemistry, or related fields. Strong legal, analytical, communication, and project management skills are essential.
