About the Role
Associate General Counsel, Ethics & Compliance Investigations—lead Neurocrine’s enterprise Ethics & Compliance investigations program. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, set strategy and standards for investigations, oversee the Ethics & Compliance Hotline and high-risk matters, and translate investigation findings into organizational improvements.
Responsibilities
- Set strategy and operating standards for the enterprise investigations program; ensure objectivity, consistency, and effectiveness.
- Advise senior leaders on complex legal/regulatory/reputational/employee-relations matters; brief the Compliance Committee and Board on emerging risks and investigation trends.
- Translate findings and root causes into improvements to policies, controls, training, processes, and compliance effectiveness.
- Develop investigation governance, methodologies, documentation standards, QA processes, and best practices.
- Oversee Hotline/reporting channels: intake, risk assessment, triage, prioritization, escalation, and assignment; establish metrics and service standards.
- Lead/oversee sensitive investigations involving Code of Conduct, healthcare laws, anti-corruption, privacy, and other legal/regulatory obligations; manage outside counsel/advisors as needed.
- Partner on corrective action, remediation, and appropriate disciplinary recommendations; perform root cause analyses.
- Lead internal investigations team; foster a culture of integrity, accountability, collaboration, sound judgment, and continuous improvement.
Requirements/Skills
- JD from an accredited law school.
- 10+ years progressively responsible legal experience conducting/overseeing internal compliance investigations in a highly regulated industry.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Expertise leading Ethics & Compliance investigations programs (Hotline governance, risk-based triage, case management, program governance).
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance laws (Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, FDA requirements, FCPA, and related regulations).
- Exceptional investigative and business judgment; ability to assess allegations, develop strategies, analyze evidence, conduct root cause analysis, and communicate conclusions.
- Ability to advise/influence senior leaders, governance committees, and Boards with independence and discretion; proven people leadership and cross-functional influence.
Compensation/Benefits
- Base salary: $258,000.00–$352,000.00; annual bonus target 35% of earned base salary; eligibility for equity-based long-term incentive.
