Associate Engineer, RNA Starting Material MS&T
The role works in a team focused on lab-scale organic synthesis, purification, analysis, and characterization of nucleoside-based and lipid building blocks for Sareptaβs PMOs, next-generation PMO, and siRNA platforms. Includes synthesis of reference markers/standards and participation in supervised RNA starting materials process chemistry development and scale-up to optimize and troubleshoot syntheses. Cross-functional training, interaction with Analytical/QC, interpretation of HPLC, GC, KF, and NMR data, and protocol/report writing.
Responsibilities:
- Synthesize nucleoside reference markers/standards to support commercial supply assurance.
- Execute development studies (independently or as part of a team).
- Assess scalability of changes; run experiments to mimic large-scale impacts.
- Participate in technology transfer of improved processes to manufacturing sites.
- Support process improvements and troubleshooting through knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Synthesize and purify (chromatography) nucleoside analogs for production and development.
- Characterize/manage impurity profiles; design experiments to test impurity hypotheses.
- Compile/interpret/document data and present conclusions.
- Participate in vendor update meetings and provide input on vendor production projects.
Qualifications:
- B.S. (required) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related; 0β2 years experience.
- Organic chemistry competence; familiarity interpreting data from GC, LC-MS, HPLC, NMR, and KF; HPLC method-running experience strongly preferred.
- Able to multitask, meet deadlines; strong written/verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- May require <5% infrequent domestic/international travel.

Compensation:
- Targeted salary range: $62,000β$77,500/year.
