Operations
Purpose:
- Owner-side leadership and technical governance for design, integration, and delivery of Utilities and associated infrastructure for large biopharmaceutical capital projects (> $2B).
- Design Authority for Black and Clean utility systems meeting manufacturing requirements, GMP, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversight of Engineering contractor design activities and integration across process systems, HVAC, automation, equipment, and facility infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
- Lead owner’s Utilities team; establish standards/execution strategies for utility systems.
- Provide technical leadership for Black and Clean utilities (e.g., steam, chilled/cooling water, compressed air/HVAC utilities, purified water, WFI, clean steam, process/CIP gases, etc.).
- Develop/maintain utility engineering standards, specifications, guides, and best practices; ensure global harmonization.
- Review/approve deliverables (datasheets, cause-and-effect, control philosophy, P&IDs, specs, load/sizing, piping, etc.).
- Support design reviews, HAZOPs, FAT/SAT, operational readiness; define commissioning strategy and startup; coordinate with CQV.
- Provide enterprise SME for utility design, operation, commissioning, lifecycle management.
- Define automation/digital strategy and lead automation engineering (DCS, PLC, Batch, SCADA, environmental/building automation, cyber/GxP data integrity).
- Drive transformation and AI/digitalization; manage automation cost/schedule for vendor programs.

Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering or equivalent; Master’s or MBA preferred.
- 12+ years as a process lead across multiple technologies.
- Proven leadership in automation for mega-capital projects ($500MM–$1B+); deep knowledge of automation systems/codes/architecture.
- Experience managing engineering contractors and global equipment vendors.
- Inclusive leadership for cross-functional teams; strong negotiation and risk-based decision making.
- Ability to mentor next-generation leaders; travel within US and outside US as needed.
