Role Summary

Associate Director, Strategic Sourcing - Equipment. Leads category management for Equipment across Vertexβ€šΓ„Γ΄s value chain, developing scalable sourcing strategies and overseeing multi-year, multi-geographic supply needs. Based in Boston, MA with global reach and travel to other facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently partner with stakeholders to develop relationships, understand objectives, and drive multi-year strategic and operational plans.
  • Manage Category Management of Equipment globally, including development of category strategies, supplier relationship management, performance management, and RFx activities.
  • Conduct market research and translate data into actionable insights for category strategies.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and refresh advanced category strategies across sub-categories in collaboration with business stakeholders.
  • Negotiate, author, and execute contracts with Vertex suppliers.
  • Lead Supplier Performance/Relationship Management with executive-level coordination, including dashboards and follow-up.
  • Lead change management and communications to address visibility and risk, and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Collaborate on risk and resiliency strategies to ensure continuity in preclinical portfolios.
  • Define KPIs and performance metrics, integrating them into contracts and dashboards to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Identify risks with Business Owners and coordinate with Risk SMEs to develop mitigation plans.
  • Lead the RFx process end-to-end, including requirements, RFPs, vendor sessions, terms, and supplier agreements.
  • Define value objectives and annual cost savings targets in collaboration with Business Partners and Finance, ensuring achievement.
  • Mentor Sourcing colleagues, temporary staff, and interns as directed.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree; advanced degree (MS or MBA) preferred.
  • Proficient in Equipment sourcing and maintenance services within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
  • Experience navigating a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
  • Six Sigma certification desired.
  • Ability to contribute to Strategic Sourcing goal-setting.
  • Expertise across RFx, negotiation, contract execution, supplier performance management, and stakeholder management.
  • Influence with senior leadership; proven as a thought partner.
  • Knowledge of O2C processes, 3PL/4PL, GDP; supplier risk management tools and processes.
  • Strong ERP and e-Sourcing tool proficiency; data analysis and reporting (Excel, Power BI, etc.).
  • Continuous Improvement tools proficiency; strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable with executive audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects to deliver on-time outcomes.

Education
