Role Summary
This position will be responsible for consulting with Commercial and R&D teams as a strategic partner in achieving and maintaining competitive leadership. The role will be leading, creating and delivering integrated insights across multiple sources. The position is expected to bring competitive analysis consulting expertise with strong leadership in market analysis, brand planning, situation analysis, project management and cross-functional alignment skills. The role will also be serving as a Competitive Intelligence (CI) function expert to Commercial and R&D organizations to provide competitive landscaping and analysis to inform brand strategies, clinical development strategies for pipeline, disease area strategies and Business Development and external partnership opportunities.
Responsibilities

- Create cross-source insights, recommendations and alignment for action
- Develop competitive landscape analysis, business need understanding, knowledge gap identification, primary and/or secondary CI to fill prioritized gaps
- Communicate those integrated insights to relevant stakeholders across Takeda with urgency
- Leverage data and specialty expertise in Competitive Intelligence external analysis, with internal market planning, business development, strategic or tactical work streams for long-term and short-term impact
- Proactively identifies strategic and tactical CI needs of brands and pipeline, establishing both long-range and short-term business impact
- Collaboratively prioritizes and builds a CI plan (KITs, KIQs), integrated with primary market research, analytics and cross-functional teams
- Lead the coordination, planning and execution of competitive coverage at assigned conferences
- Provide brand partners with actionable intelligence about the competitive environment with a focus on opportunities and threats that could impact Takeda's portfolio
- Contribute to the development and/or assessment of new products and services to be offered by Scientific & Competitive Analysis
- Work to continually improve the business processes of the Scientific & Competitive Analysis team and of key customer groups
- Ensures that Global CI assumptions are consistent across functions as well as regions. Where assumptions differ, understand the reasons for the differences and communicates them clearly
- Work closely with US and ex-US based market insights and forecasting colleagues to ensure cohesive and aligned contributions to strategic decisions and planning
- Plan and facilitate key Competitor Workshops (War Games, Gap Analysis, Scenario Planning) within Oncology Business Unit to prepare teams for future potential competitor threats
- Take a leadership role in defining and executing the necessary competitive intelligence activities required to generate insights that support global clinical development and commercialization of Takeda Oncology's current portfolio as well as future business development
- Creates and communicates to stakeholders a summary of key competitor events impacting Takeda business, CI activities to address these competitor threats as well as CI activities to support and aligned with forecasting process and feeding into market research activities
- Proactively develops and implements new and innovative solutions to meet business needs and resolve business issues
- Develops, implements, and maintains project management of CI projects
- Build internal stakeholder relationships from a variety of groups (i.e. commercial, medical affairs, patient value and patient access, R&D, corporate communication, patient advocacy)
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- BS in a life science; plus MS/MBA/PhD or equivalent, 7+ years of experience in the healthcare industry with exposure to pharmaceutical product development
- Sound knowledge of primary and secondary research methodologies and of information resources pertinent to the industry
- Sound knowledge of competitive intelligence techniques. Very strong verbal presentation, analytical, and critical thinking skills are essential
- This role requires an advanced understanding of CI processes, methods, industry ethics and compliance as well as bench strengths in CI execution for strategic-to-tactical recommendations
- Advanced knowledge of best practices and leadership in specialty pharmaceutical commercial business operations, and the use of CI to drive decision-making in commercial strategy and tactics to achieve a leadership position
- Demonstrated leadership in synthesis of primary and secondary CI, forecasting impact, competitive intelligence and data management to advise the development, execution and monitoring of specialty pharmaceutical leadership status
- Proven ability to negotiate and influence in a consultative role
- Proactive ability to effectively monitor competitive activity, predict probable issues and problem solve (scenario planning)
- Proven consultative influence, communication and presentation skills – organizational, written and verbal
- Expertise in CI research methods as they pertain to integration with specialty pharmaceutical data sources for strategic recommendations
- History of managing multiple tasks of varied complexity simultaneously
- Able to delegate effectively
- Proven advanced skills in utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word
