Purpose
Oversee financial planning and analysis processes and requirements across R&D Externals and R&D Portfolio views (internals and externals). Prepare management analysis of actual vs. benchmark results, provide business decision support, and lead initiatives to improve financial processes. Lead Externals, Portfolio, and consolidated R&D visualization efforts through Power BI dashboards. Prepare financial cycle book content for the Externals and Portfolio views. Report to the Assistant Controller, R&D FP&A; interact with finance and business management.
Responsibilities
- Oversee/manage Externals Spend monthly, quarterly, and annual Plan, LRP, and LBEs; partner to understand key/plus-minus items.
- Oversee/manage/design/build R&D visualization (Externals, Portfolio views, Internals, and consolidated) in Power BI.
- Support PRF and QPP; provide and reconcile baseline information for internals and externals.
- Prepare executive-level financial materials and underlying support.
- Collaborate with Therapeutic Area & Functional Finance Directors to ensure accurate financial dollars and timelines.
- Understand governance (EPG, LMG, DRC, QPP, PRF) funding requests and coordinate to dial approved items into AMP/BPC.
- Provide variance analysis; develop management reporting schedules; ensure accuracy/predictability of results and metrics.
- Champion process improvements (governance, PRF, QPP, LBE, LRP).
- Manage the R&D Finance Externals calendar for timely deliverables.
- Document/update finance processes for the Externals finance team.
- Support key initiatives (e.g., Portfolio Prioritization visualization, Foreign Currency Optimization, Power BI/SAC strategy).
- Manage, coach, and develop direct/indirect reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in Finance or Accounting (CPA or MBA a plus).
- 7β10 years of progressive, related experience.
- Strong financial/analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter; able to operate independently and drive process improvements.
- Strong verbal/written communication; ability to influence.
- Strong system skills; willingness to learn Workiva and Power BI.
- Knowledge of SAP and BPC.
