Role Summary

Associate Director, Publications in the Early Vaccines and Immune Therapies group, responsible for developing and executing strategic publication plans for pipeline products in early clinical development, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure transparent and balanced communication of data.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional publications planning teams and day-to-day management of multiple assigned publication plans
  • Ensure project alignment with product strategy, scientific narrative, and communications objectives
  • Advise scientific teams on preclinical, translational, clinical, and medical evidence studies related to publication aspects
  • Participate in product, clinical, and medical team committees, delivering publication updates as needed
  • Manage publication plan-related financial forecasting and tracking
  • Manage output, compliance, and budget of medical communication agencies
  • Ensure compliance with AZ/external publication standards and transparency requirements
  • Manage, track, and document publications using the publication management system
  • Drive adoption of new publication guidelines, standards, and technologies

Qualifications

  • Required: Demonstrated experience (3–5 years) in medical communications in the pharmaceutical industry or a medical communications agency
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in the biological or health sciences
  • Required: Familiarity with the drug development process, Good Publications Practice, ICMJE recommendations, and the peer-reviewed publication process
  • Required: Excellent project management skills to deliver multiple parallel projects in a complex multidisciplinary environment
  • Required: Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Desirable: Post-doctoral degree in the biological or health sciences, or equivalent experience
  • Desirable: Curiosity and ability to seek new understanding in scientific data and methodological innovations
  • Desirable: Experience of working globally, cross-culturally and cross-functionally
  • Desirable: CMPP certification
