Role: Lead legal privacy advisor within FMI, focusing on U.S. and international data protection laws, including HIPAA, GDPR, and genetic privacy, supporting responsible data use across healthcare, research, and commercial activities. Responsibilities: provide legal guidance on privacy matters, advise on informed consent, data de-identification standards, and privacy incident response; negotiate data sharing and collaboration agreements; develop and improve privacy policies, training, and awareness; collaborate with legal, compliance, and business teams; manage external counsel as needed; participate in internal committees and deliver presentations. Qualifications: JD from an accredited law school, active U.S. bar membership, 7+ years legal experience, with at least 5 years advising healthcare or life sciences organizations on data privacy law. Preferred: experience at top-tier law firms or in-house at healthcare/biopharma companies, familiarity with HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, CIBM, CIPP/US or E certification, strong risk analysis, and stakeholder management skills. High-value: legal expertise in healthcare, genetic privacy, research protocols, secondary data use, and privacy compliance for HIPAA Covered Entities and GDPR controllers. Work setup: location in Boston, MA; compensation range $195,300–$244,200; potential bonus and benefits.
