Responsibilities
- Payroll: Own day-to-day processing of U.S. multi-state payroll using ADP (garnishments, benefits, taxes) in compliance with federal/state wage and hour laws.
- Partner with HR to ensure employee transactions (hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence) are processed accurately and timely.
- Perform monthly payroll reconciliations, journal entries, bonus accruals; resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Own/maintain payroll controls and SOX-compliant processes; maintain documentation for payroll reports (semi-monthly/monthly/quarterly/year-end).
- Address payroll inquiries; communicate with external stakeholders (tax authorities, partners/vendors).
- Partner with ADP/service providers for year-end processing and W-2 reporting; support workersβ compensation, 401(k), payroll tax, and payroll-related audits.
- Coordinate with third-party international payroll providers for accurate payroll/equity processing for international employees.
- Support design, implementation, and continuous improvement of payroll and equity programs/processes/controls.
- Equity Compensation: Own day-to-day equity administration (new awards, cancellations/exercises, tax withholding calculations).
- Administer Shareworks and Computershare data; reconcile equity activity and maintain records of shares outstanding/reserves/participant balances.
- Maintain SOX-compliant controls and documentation for equity administration.
- Support public company reporting/compliance (10-Q, 10-K, proxy statements, Section 16) with Accounting/Legal/SEC Reporting/HR.
- Serve as a trusted resource for employee/executive equity inquiries; collaborate with HR/Legal; assist with equity training and communications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree (or equivalent).
- 8+ years multi-state payroll (ADP Workforce Now or similar).
- 3+ years equity administration (public company stock options/RSUs).
- Experience with quarterly/annual reporting for high-growth public companies.
- Strong knowledge of federal/state/local payroll tax regulations, including equity taxation.
- Payroll internal controls, reconciliations, and audit knowledge.
- Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, analysis, reconciliations, reporting) and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, problem-solving skills; high discretion/ethics.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPP and/or CEP.
- Shareworks, Computershare, NetSuite experience.
- Biotechnology/pharmaceutical/life sciences experience.
Work Conditions (Role-related)
- Remote within the U.S.; travel to Cambridge, MA several times per year.
- Reliable remote work setup (privacy, internet, phone, video conferencing).
Compensation
- Estimated pay range: $163,000β$183,000 USD.
