Role Summary
Associate Director, Operational Excellence Leader will drive deployment of a lean management system across Technical Operations (TOPS) and the enterprise. The role reports to the head of Global Operational Excellence and is focused on growing a lean culture, expanding Daily Management System adoption, and leading strategic initiatives to deliver measurable value. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders at all levels and readiness to lead or support enterprise-wide opportunities as needed over a multi-year horizon.
Responsibilities
- Build on the Operational Excellence plan that has been developed across TOPS, and work with key enterprise stakeholders to deploy an effective lean management system over the next three years.
- Report into the head of Global Operational Excellence as part of a formative lean culture initiative.
- Grow mindset into the business and drive Daily Management System (BioMarin Lean model) deployment across TOPS and the enterprise, based on careful prioritization.
- Support planned strategy deployment as required by the business, leading at least one key initiative every year to deliver acknowledged value.
- Be ready and respond to enterprise-wide opportunities and needs, stepping in to lead and support as required.
Qualifications
- At least 15 years of experience in private industry.
- A college degree in any discipline.
- Extensive practical lean experience and a qualified Six Sigma Black Belt.
- Demonstrated track record in driving performance through self and others.
- Sound knowledge of cGMPs and equivalent industry regulations is an advantage.

Additional Requirements
- The work will require flexibility to βΓΓΊfollow the work,βΓΓΉ including longer days when necessary to be effective.
- International travel may be required up to 20% of the time to support the business.
