Role Summary

Associate Director of Oncology Policy Strategy focused on leading identification and analysis of policy changes affecting drug reimbursement and access to develop brand and business unit strategies within oncology. Primary responsibility for oncology policy and business strategy, including the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), across federal and state policies impacting oncology care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of policy strategies, brand tactics, and positions in conjunction with cross-functional teams and leadership input
  • Identify oncology-relevant policy issues, analyze proposals, and provide strategic recommendations to US Oncology teams on federal and state policy issues
  • Lead primary research on policy-related issues and implications for oncology stakeholders and AZ brands
  • Support development of policy strategies aligned with brand objectives and lead cross-functional workstreams
  • Communicate policy issues to internal and external teams
  • Incorporate evidence and data-driven materials in policy deliverables to support AZ strategies
  • Lead policy projects and manage multiple workstreams across oncology policy priorities, including cross-functional teams
  • Oversee US Policy deliverables, manage timelines, and guide team members
  • Prepare and engage with external policy stakeholders
  • Own policy budget and provide guidance across all workstreams
  • Provide strategic direction to AZ team members and external stakeholders on policy issues as representative of the oncology business
  • Collaborate with US Policy and Access Strategy to develop internal analysis, education, and materials on health policy topics
  • Manage budgets for oncology policy workstreams
  • Coordinate with Marketing, Access Strategy, Market Access, Oncology Field Teams, Medical Affairs, and Corporate Affairs to determine AZ strategy with oncology societies

Qualifications

  • Essential: Bachelorβ€šΓ„Γ΄s degree; advanced degree (MPH, MPP, MBA, JD) preferred
  • Essential: 3+ years in pharma or healthcare policy, government affairs, market access, healthcare consulting, or related areas
  • Essential: 2+ years analyzing policies with CMS regulations or related federal legislative language
  • Essential: Ability to set strategies at brand and organizational levels; translate policy into business implications
  • Essential: Understanding of drug pricing, reimbursement, and supply chain concepts
  • Essential: Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and work independently
  • Essential: Strong communication and strategic planning skills; proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word; ability to communicate complex topics
  • Essential: Budget management experience

Desirable Qualifications

  • Prior oncology experience
  • Experience in life sciences company commercial functions
  • Health policy experience in life sciences, provider organizations, or health plans
