Role Summary
Associate Director, Network Strategy responsible for leading strategic network analysis projects, feasibility option evaluations, and supporting other strategic initiatives within BioMarin's Network Strategy & Partnering team. The role shapes the future of BioMarin’s global manufacturing network through advanced analytics, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Business process owner for Network Strategy assessments, overseeing and coordinating the process from intake, review, analysis to decision
- Execute network analysis actions (eg. CMO selection, Make v Buy) by building analyses that synthesize insight into actionable recommendations
- Cross functional partnership with Manufacturing, TDS, Quality & Supply chain teams to ensure timely decision making on product / node decisions
- Own and support development of network strategy analytical tools and models, maintaining data sets reflecting long-term demand and capacity
- Lead development and application of advanced analytical tools, including stochastic modeling, to simulate network scenarios under demand uncertainty
- Analyze opportunities within TOPS; provide financial and strategic analyses and recommendations to senior management
- Craft narratives and business cases translating complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations; communicate insights to senior leadership
- Lead project teams, manage stakeholders, ensure on-time delivery, and present analyses and recommendations to senior management
- Translate operations strategy into delivery options; perform options analysis and develop high-level feasibility plans
- Maintain key network strategy documents (docket of work, value tracker, process/docs, decision log)
- Develop and maintain Business Development Playbooks to support TOPS BD Integration plans
- Stay current with external trends and best practices
Qualifications
- 8-10 years in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industries; 2-5 years in decision support roles
- Collaborative team player with strong communication, influence, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication; capable of creating presentations and data visuals for senior management
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders through data-driven business cases
- Ability to coordinate with virtual teams across multiple international locations
- Experience in analytical model development and maintenance for complex decision making
- Creative problem solving and resourcefulness; strategic agility and attention to detail
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities
- Self-motivated with proactive project management and execution
- Experience handling sensitive financial information related to project cost reports and facilities planning
- Proven ability to manage multiple fast-moving priorities
Education
- Bachelors in Engineering, Science, Business, Operations Management, or Industrial Engineering required
- Master’s Degree preferred (MBA) or other advanced degree with strong focus on operations, supply chain, finance, quantitative methods, or operations research
- Continuing education in related areas is desirable (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, APICS)
