Role Summary

Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison (Mid Atlantic GI/Thoracic). The MSL is a field-based medical professional who provides scientific and clinical information to researchers and healthcare professionals, facilitates ongoing scientific exchange, and collaborates with Lilly Medical and cross-functional teams to address clinical care gaps and support evidence generation. This role emphasizes strategic field execution, territory management, and leadership within the MSL team to advance patient outcomes and scientific knowledge in the GI/Thoracic oncology space.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary interface between Lilly Medical and scientific/clinical experts to deliver unbiased, up-to-date medical information and address clinical questions.
  • Provide scientific and clinical knowledge addressing gaps in patient care and support evidence generation and collaboration with clinical development for studies and site recruitment.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute field-based engagement with a strategic territory plan, using analytics to identify and route customers and optimize interactions.
  • Collaborate with SEs/CEs and internal Lilly resources to facilitate research opportunities and share evidence to improve patient outcomes.
  • Communicate actionable customer/clinical insights to internal teams and across functions, exercising good judgment and escalation when needed.
  • Demonstrate leadership within the team, contribute to goals, and maintain compliance with internal and external requirements and applicable laws.

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) required; in addition to PharmD/MD/PhD, at least two years of relevant clinical or TA experience desired.
    • Alternatively, master’s or bachelor’s degree in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) with 5+ years of clinical, research, or industry experience in a relevant therapeutic area.
    • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; no visa sponsorship provided.
    • Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Interpersonal, presentation, planning, and digital skills:
    • Ability to convey complex scientific content clearly and concisely; strong strategic and critical thinking.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication; advanced presentation and literature identification skills.
    • Self-directed, able to manage multiple priorities in the field; strong teamwork and networking abilities; high emotional intelligence.
    • Resilience, intellectual curiosity, and comfort with leveraging field-based tools and technology.
  • Location requirements:
    • Geography: Southern New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, D.C., Virginia; near a transport hub.
    • Travel up to 80%, including weekends.
  • Other Information/Additional Preferences:
    • Experience in a field-based environment and familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and medical education processes preferred.
    • Knowledge of digital platforms to engage HCPs virtually (e.g., Zoom) and comfort with field-based tools valued.
    • Gastrointestinal and/or thoracic oncology TA experience strongly preferred.
