Role Summary
Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Mid Atlantic GI/Thoracic. This field-based role partners with scientific and clinical experts to deliver high-quality medical information, support clinical research and education, and facilitate strategic collaboration across Lilly Medical and external stakeholders. The MSL will synthesize complex data into actionable insights, execute territory plans, and contribute to team objectives while maintaining compliant operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide scientific and clinical knowledge to researchers and practitioners, addressing clinical care gaps and nuanced questions within the therapeutic area.
- Deliver full-spectrum SE/CE support by acting as a primary interface between Lilly Medical and SEs/CEs, facilitating evidence sharing and collaboration to improve patient outcomes.
- Identify and connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources and cross-functional partners; support clinical development studies and investigator-initiated research with disease-state information.
- Execute field activities with strategic territory planning, leveraging analytics and tools; manage priorities and ensure compliant partnerships across Lilly field roles.
- Synthesize and communicate actionable customer/clinical insights to internal teams; collaborate across functions and cultivate internal networks.
- Contribute to team goals, uphold compliant role execution, and adapt to evolving business needs and technologies.
Qualifications
- Scientific / clinical acumen:
- Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) required; 2+ years of relevant clinical or TA experience preferred. Alternatively, a master’s or bachelor’s degree (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) with 5+ years of clinical/research/industry experience in a relevant area.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; no visa sponsorship provided.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Interpersonal, presentation, planning, and digital skills:
- Strong ability to communicate complex scientific content clearly; strategic and critical thinking; advanced presentation and literature identification skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; self-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities; strong teamwork and emotional intelligence.
- Curiosity about science/medicine; comfort with field-based tools and adapting to new technologies.
- Location requirements:
- Geography: Southern New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, D.C., Virginia; near a transport hub.
- Travel up to 80% including weekend commitments.
- Other information / Preferences:
- Experience in field-based environments; familiarity with health systems, academia, medical research, and medical education; experience with digital platforms to engage HCP virtually.
- Gastrointestinal and/or thoracic oncology TA experience strongly preferred.
