Role Summary

The Associate Director, Medical Insights leads the development and operationalization of standards, processes, and frameworks for capturing, analyzing, and reporting insights across Medical Affairs + Health Impact (MHI). This newly created role establishes center-of-excellence capabilities for medical insights within MHI and serves as a strategic connector between Business Unit Therapeutic Areas (BU TAs), International TAs, and the Medical Engagement team—ensuring insight capabilities are built for long-term organizational success and adopted across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within MHI and across AbbVie to understand insight needs and workflows, and apply knowledge to develop insights capabilities that drive process excellence and contribute to the long-term success of the MHI organization.
  • Serve as a liaison between BU TAs, International TAs, and the Medical Engagement team to drive implementation of standardized processes and frameworks for capturing, analyzing, and reporting medical insights.
  • Partner across Technology, Operations, and other teams to implement and operationalize insight capabilities.
  • Scale the Medical Engagement Blueprint across Therapeutic Areas, driving consistent adoption and utilization.
  • Create tools and methodologies for synthesizing insights from various sources, including field feedback, to provide actionable recommendations for the MHI organization.
  • Identify key sources of insight for MHI, including existing and novel datasets, and develop an approach to analysis.
  • Monitor capability rollouts, track adoption, and identify adjustments needed for future deployment waves.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to insights management and synthesis.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to effectively communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the standards, processes, and framework for capturing, analyzing, and reporting on insights, ensuring alignment with the evolving needs of MHI.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree; Preferred: Advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, PhD).
  • Required: Experience leading large-scale, global transformation initiatives that span People, Process, and Technology, with demonstrated strength in capability building, change management, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Required: Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, matrixed environments while maintaining strategic vision and driving measurable outcomes.
  • Required: 6+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent with a Bachelor's, or 4+ years with a Master’s, or 2+ years with a PhD.
  • Preferred: 3–4 years of experience in Medical Affairs.
  • Required: Demonstrate creative problem-solving and “out of the box” thinking to solve difficult unstructured problems.
  • Required: Stakeholder management and leadership skills in a matrix organization.
  • Required: Strong analytical reasoning abilities, intellectual curiosity, strong business acumen, and creativity in problem solving.
  • Required: Ability to effectively present ideas and document complex medical/clinical concepts and processes in both written and oral communication.
  • Required: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
