Summary
Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) Associate Director supports asset-specific payer evidence strategies, including patient-relevant outcomes strategy, to generate differentiated evidence, strengthen the payer value proposition, and optimize access.
Responsibilities
- Lead development, execution, and communication of payer evidence strategies for early-stage pipeline assets.
- Collaborate with Value & Access, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Patient Advocacy.
- Drive understanding of payer/HTA requirements for patient-relevant outcomes and health utility measurement.
- Ensure patient-relevant outcomes requirements are incorporated into clinical development plans.
- Lead asset-specific patient-relevant outcomes strategies (informed by disease conceptual models) and patient-relevant endpoint planning for clinical trials.
- Develop early Joint Clinical Assessment (JCA) strategy, assessing access implications and market trade-offs.
- Assess payer evidence gaps and inform integrated evidence planning.
- Partner with external vendors on PRO development/validation, health state valuation (time trade-off/standard gamble), and patient preference research.
- Support scientific interactions with HTA agencies (e.g., EU HTA JSC, NICE, CADTH) and prepare briefing materials/evidence packages.
- Support interactions with regulatory agencies and patient advocacy organizations.
- Analyze patient-relevant outcomes data with Integrated Evidence Teams to strengthen HTA/payer value propositions.
- Shape scientific communication plans and support publication/presentation.
Qualifications / Requirements / Skills
- 7+ years pharma industry experience; 4+ years HEOR (pharma or consulting); 2+ years patient-relevant outcomes research.
- Advanced degree in health economics/outcomes research/epidemiology/public health/health services research/pharmacy or related field.
- Strong knowledge of market access, value, and global HTA frameworks.
- Experience developing patient-relevant outcomes strategies for payer/HTA needs; evaluating/validating PRO measures.
- Experience with HTA submissions, value dossiers, and patient-relevant briefing books.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience engaging external stakeholders (HTA agencies, payers, health economists, clinical experts, patient advocacy). Rare disease experience preferred.
