Summary:
Associate Director, Field Reimbursement (customer-facing) manages defined accounts in a region for the Non-Opioid Pain therapeutic area, supporting a specialty buy-and-bill therapy by driving reimbursement/coverage, removing access barriers, and partnering with stakeholders. Acts as Pacira’s internal expert on medical coding, billing, and reimbursement.
Responsibilities:
- Provide live one-on-one coverage support for EXPAREL & ZILRETTA.
- Support the reimbursement journey from physician order through prior authorization and appeals/denials requirements.
- Review patient-specific cases for coverage challenges.
- Review patient insurance benefit options.
- Coordinate with patient support services program representatives.
- Educate physician office staff on call center support and web-based provider programs.
- Provide reimbursement topic information for Pacira’s portfolio.
- Serve as payer expert for assigned geography and communicate payer changes to stakeholders.
- Provide office support for accurate coding and billing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Policy, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 6+ years healthcare industry experience.
- 3+ years reimbursement experience, managing targeted reimbursement relationships.
- Knowledge of payer policy (managed care, Medicare/Medicaid), benefit verification, and prior authorization.
- Ability to interpret payer policy and guide HCP offices on prior auth/formulary exception/appeals documentation.
- Specialty buy-and-bill product/coding expertise and physician office reimbursement/billing process knowledge.
- Track record managing medical billing/coding, appeals, denials, and single-case rates.
- Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Strategic, collaborative, problem-solving/analytic/negotiation skills; strong contracting partnership experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of CMS and commercial payment models/trends.
- Valid driver’s license.
