Associate Director, Facilities (DPF)

Responsibilities:
- Drive operational performance, reliability, and execution across the full DPF network (buildings, infrastructure, utilities, GMP systems, and critical environmental controls).
- Contribute to strategic planning and multi-year operational roadmaps for DPF Facilities Maintenance.
- Lead, develop, coach, and support Site Facilities Managers in alignment with Site Directors and site leadership.
- Establish and continuously improve consistent operational standards, escalation protocols, and staffing models across the network.
- Drive workforce planning, cross-site staffing flexibility, and rapid resource deployment for outages, startups, expansions, vacancies, and peak demand.
- Ensure rapid incident response, recovery, and permanent corrective actions for critical facilities and GMP systems.
- Lead operational readiness, commissioning, startup, expansion, transition, and renovation activities.
- Oversee vendor and contractor performance with accountability to quality and SLAs.
- Support development/management of the DPF network operating budget (forecasting, expense tracking, cost optimization).
- Deliver GMP/GxP, safety, and regulatory compliance with outstanding audit readiness.
- Maintain regular, extended on-site presence across all DPF sites and provide hands-on leadership during absences, critical incidents, and elevated demand.

Minimum Requirements:
- 15+ years progressive leadership in facilities/maintenance/engineering/operations in FDA-regulated environments with a H.S. Diploma/GED (or 14+ years with an Associate Degree; or 12+ years with a Bachelor’s Degree).
- Proven operational leadership across distributed teams under pressure.
- Technical troubleshooting and decisive judgment in regulated GMP environments.
- Track record building staffing flexibility and cross-site collaboration.
- Solid understanding of facilities infrastructure, GMP utilities/maintenance execution, and vendor management.
- Ability to interpret, apply, and enforce GMP/GxP regulations.
- Valid driver’s license; willing to travel extensively (30–40%+; higher during startups/outages/peak periods).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities/operations management, or related field.
- 5+ years success in lean/flexible/cross-site operational models in regulated research or product development environments.

Job Location/Work Model:
- Eastern or Central Time Zones; preference near/relocate near DPF facilities in Christiansburg, VA; Houston, TX; or Stewartville, MN.
- Travel-intensive hybrid role with monthly on-site presence at all DPF sites.
