Associate Director, ExploR&D Consultation Agreements

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end negotiation of consultation agreements with biotech partners across preclinical and development
- Drive high-volume agreements through negotiation to signature efficiently (speed with rigor)
- Serve as primary interface for biotechs; translate scientific scope into commercial terms
- Partner with R&D leadership and experts to structure consultations aligned to Lilly capabilities
- Draft, redline, and finalize agreements with Legal to capture scope/deliverables and reflect scientific engagement risk
- Translate technical scope into clear, bounded work plans with scientists
- Negotiate change orders/amendments as scope/timelines/deliverables evolve
- Communicate with biotech counterparts on structure, timelines, and engagement model
- Maintain deal tracking, pipeline visibility, and cycle-time discipline; improve processes to reduce friction and shorten time-to-signature
- Partner with Finance, Legal, and Compliance to meet governance/risk/approval standards
- Potential to extend into alliance management over time

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years in business development, contracting, or R&D consulting
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (Lilly does not sponsor visas)

Preferred/Additional Skills:
- Advanced life sciences/STEM degree (PhD, PharmD, MS)
- Deep R&D fluency in drug discovery and/or development; credible to engage scientific leaders
- Experience negotiating biotech/pharma/life sciences agreements; drafting/redlining/executing contracts
- Manage multiple concurrent contracts; early-stage biotech ecosystem exposure
- Alliance management experience; strong communication; comfort with ambiguity; cross-functional collaboration
