Role Summary
The Associate Director, Enterprise, Executive & Corporate Communications supports the communications strategy aimed at protecting and promoting the reputation of the organization while assisting the commercial agenda by fostering relations with internal and external audiences to positively position Novo Nordisk in the United States. This role collaborates to implement communication activities that connect U.S. Operations employees with Novo Nordisk's purpose, strategy, values, and brand, aligning efforts with the organization’s direction and leadership. It provides strategic communications support to the U.S. Operations Executive Team, shapes objectives, plans, and tactics that reflect the commercial agenda and culture, and contributes to employee engagement and change communications. The position also contributes to developing and activating the Corporate Narrative for Novo Nordisk in the U.S., supporting thought leadership and content that positions executives as industry leaders.
Responsibilities
- Enterprise Communications:
- Supports the positioning of the company and its leaders among employees, facilitating understanding of the company's purpose, business goals, and values
- Key contributor in the strategic planning and execution of the NNI employee communications and engagement plan, addressing emerging communication needs to build awareness, understanding, and engagement around our strategy, business, and culture
- Contributes to alignment across Enterprise, Leadership, and Functional communications efforts
- Supports change communication initiatives related to organizational changes and other relevant initiatives
- Assesses key issues and aids in the development and distribution of messaging that focuses on transparent, objective, timely, and empathetic communication
- Evaluates enterprise-wide communications programming, analyzing data and findings, and recommending necessary adjustments or enhancements
- Promotes the Novo Nordisk Way through message development and communication strategies, ensuring effective use of channels to inform and engage employees
- Collaborates to ensure messages are consistent and aligned across the organization and with Global communications
- Provides support and input on U.S. Operations Leadership Team forums and assists in developing communication tools and resources for leaders to promote business strategy uptake and overall employee engagement
- Executive Communications:
- Key member of the Executive Communications Center of Excellence by assisting with internal and external communication needs for Executives while ensuring alignment and consistency with Enterprise messaging and thought leadership strategies
- Serves as a strategic communications partner to the U.S. Operations Executive Team, providing tailored support based on individual needs
- Offers input and guidance to senior leadership for internal and external communications and interactions
- Assists in coaching leaders to enhance communication effectiveness and impact
- Corporate Communications:
- Contributes to positively positioning the company among key external audiences to foster public understanding of the company's mission, business goals, and philosophies
- Key contributor in the development of the executive thought leadership strategy, identifying key topics, themes, and trends
- Supports the execution of the U.S. thought leadership roadmap, ensuring content aligns with the organization’s overall communication strategy
- Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure that key Novo Nordisk/NNI brand messages are effectively integrated within commercial, brand, and other external communications initiatives
- Utilizes knowledge of the business and industry to inform decision-making and enhance both internal and external communications
- Contributes to the development of proactive and reactive communications strategies that align with our commercial agenda
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree required in journalism, public relations, English or a related communications discipline
- 10+ years of progressively increasing communications experience required
- Ability to demonstrate business acumen and work across all levels of the business
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
- Proven experience in strategic planning and counseling, executive/leadership communications, employee engagement programs, business and news writing, and communications measurement
- Expert ability to lead content strategy, key message development, conversational writing and editing for both internal and external audiences as required
- Proven ability to effectively manage projects and influence individuals, teams and stakeholders
- Ability to counsel and coach executives for internal and external communication needs
- Ability to work under tight timelines, in what can be a stressful environment with limited planning or preparation
