Overview
- The Associate Director, Engineering & Technical Services Procurement executes procurement for Engineering, Manufacturing, Site MRO Services, Technical Development, and related categories. Partners with senior stakeholders to drive an aligned category strategy delivering business value and savings via sourcing, strategic planning, and external spend management.

Responsibilities
- Drive strategic, compliant sourcing of goods/services for Site Technical Services (Maintenance, Repair & Operations), Engineering, Technical Development, and Manufacturing.
- Oversee end-to-end outsourcing: sourcing strategy execution, supplier rationalization, RFP coordination, cost negotiations, and due diligence.
- Develop business cases summarizing competitive bidding, scoring methodology, and selection justification for best technical/commercial solutions.
- Identify supplier consolidation/standardization and innovation opportunities to support manufacturing continuity and uptime.
- Negotiate pricing, SLAs, and risk-mitigation clauses with external manufacturing and analytical lab partners.
- Streamline long-term category strategies to improve operational efficiency and lower total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Lead procurement strategy for engineering/construction services, automation, and capital equipment.
- Use procurement best practices to drive meaningful savings.
- Collaborate with Legal and Finance to execute controls and manage third-party agreements.
- Lead cross-functional teams; develop performance benchmarks/scorecards and KPI reporting.
- Adhere to core values, policies, procedures, and business ethics.

Travel
- Periodic travel to San Carlos, CA; Tampa, FL; and Philadelphia, PA.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelorโ€™s degree in Procurement/Supply Chain/Engineering/Economics/Finance or related area.
- At least 10 years Procurement and/or relevant experience in Manufacturing, Technical Site Services, Analytical Development, and Engineering.
- Proven experience negotiating complex third-party transactions.
- Strong knowledge of supplier cost structures and market competitiveness.
- Ability to operate in a fast-moving biotech environment and influence executive stakeholders.
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of finance/accounting; in-depth sourcing/procurement knowledge across MRO, Manufacturing & Development, and Engineering.
- Strategic mindset, negotiation skills, analytical/problem-solving ability.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standard contractual terms.
- Change management skills; knowledge of enterprise risk management and business continuity.

Preferred Qualifications
- Masterโ€™s degree in related field.
- Experience with modern sourcing/procurement systems.
