Associate Director, Engineering, Maintenance, & Utility Department

Responsibilities:
- Ensure area objectives are met by supplying quality products at competitive cost and in compliance with GMP, safety, environmental, and applicable code requirements.
- Manage tactical and strategic area operations; collaborate with indirect staff.
- Drive continuous improvement and a Right First-Time culture; reduce waste.
- Create and sustain a compliance culture (Safety, Environment, cGMP, etc.); review/approve compliance documents.
- Lead area daily walkthroughs to ensure reliable quality output while managing cost.
- Manage area supply performance metrics (e.g., Schedule Adherence, Release on Time, Customer Service performance, Product Lead Time).
- Develop/advance production system (MPS) and continuous improvement culture; meet MPS targets.
- Lead strategic initiatives for manufacturing process, equipment, and human resources aligned to long-range plans.
- Report monthly area metrics/action plans to IPT Leadership; identify/prioritize improvement projects (efficiency, cycle time, yield, variability, waste elimination).
- Develop/manage operating budget; meet budget and reduce costs.
- Lead, coach, and develop direct reports and support talent management.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelorβs degree in Science, Engineering, or technical field.
- 6+ yearsβ experience across multiple functional areas (e.g., Operations, Quality, Engineering/Maintenance, Supply Chain).
- 2+ years of line experience with responsibility for direct reports.
Preferred:
- 2+ years in relevant manufacturing/processing (aseptic/sterile, bulk, solid oral dosage, packaging).
- Knowledge of MPS/lean, talent management, and inclusion.
- cGMP knowledge; Lean Six Sigma, RCA, FMEA; reliability engineering and asset lifecycle; CMMS (SAP); CMRP desired.
Required/Preferred Skills (high level):
- GMP/Regulatory compliance, Lean Six Sigma, continuous improvement, people leadership/coaching, financial management, CMMS, reliability engineering, cost reduction.
