Associate Director Engineering (Hybird)

Role: Senior technical leader for digital operations within Agentic Intelligence at Merck's Development Sciences and Clinical Supply, focusing on transforming data and AI capabilities to enhance experimental efficiency, supply chain robustness, and decision confidence. Responsibilities: lead end-to-end programs on data foundations, governed AI agents, automation, and decision intelligence; define technical strategy, oversee solution design, deployment, and lifecycle management; establish governance, security, and compliance standards; mentor teams and drive adoption of innovative AI/automation solutions; collaborate with stakeholders to align capabilities with business value; evaluate emerging AI tools and platforms. Requirements: 7+ years in data engineering, software development, or AI/ML, with hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, Databricks, and enterprise AI platforms; proven experience building and orchestrating large language models and AI workflows (e.g., Copilot Studio, Gemini/Vertex AI, Power Platform); strong understanding of data pipelines, data governance, and GxP/regulatory environments; capable of leading projects and coaching talent independently. Preferred: advanced degree (M.S./Ph.D.), experience in regulated pharma/biotech contexts, familiarity with secure AI deployment, and stakeholder management.
