Associate Director - Community Engagement Site Lead
Purpose
- Build the model for how Lilly shows up in communities where it manufactures medicine, starting with new sites.
- Lead community engagement strategy and governance across Lillyโs manufacturing footprint (not a coordination role).
- Based in Indianapolis; up to 50% travel.
Why this role matters
- Ensure engagement is consistent, well-governed, and measurable across sites.
What youโll own
- Community engagement strategy at new manufacturing sites, from first community entry through embedding engagement into site culture.
- Site-level governance model: standards, decision rights, approval pathways, escalation thresholds.
- Strategic partnerships with nonprofit, civic, and community stakeholders; represent Lilly externally.
- Align enterprise programs (United Way, Global Day of Service, employee giving) with local site execution.
- Define and track KPIs; provide executive reporting and storytelling on impact beyond dollars donated.
- Manage reputational, operational, and compliance risk related to community engagement across sites.
Success in year one
- Adopt a documented governance model at the newest site.
- Implement a repeatable playbook/framework for new sites.
- Launch KPI dashboard/reporting for executive stakeholders.
Must-haves (basic requirements)
- Bachelorโs degree and 5+ years in community engagement, social impact, or corporate philanthropy.
- Citable example of designing and leading a community engagement/social impact program at scale.
- Experience leading a cross-functional initiative with at least 3 functions without direct authority.
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time; Lilly will not sponsor visas.
Strongly preferred
- Hands-on corporate community engagement/social impact program design and delivery.
- Experience in manufacturing, HR, or government affairs environments.
- Translate enterprise strategy into local execution a site team implemented.
- Build executive-facing impact reports using data/storytelling to show value beyond spend.
