Responsibilities
- Partner with leadership to define and execute the Cloud Vision for 2026 & beyond; bridge current capabilities to a best-in-class compliant target state.
- Define target state of cloud maturity; ensure AWS/GCP are secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-optimized.
- Lead the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) and establish fit-for-purpose governance that enables business agility.
- Lead CCoE activities as a technical authority; establish guiding principles, standards, and blueprints.
- Lead architecture governance for new and existing workloads; review requirements and guide teams toward secure, cost-optimized architectures.
- Continuously evaluate cloud maturity against AWS/GCP best practices and benchmarks; drive initiatives to close gaps.
- Serve as SME for AWS and GCP; design robust infrastructure solutions.
- Create reference architectures for common and prioritized use cases aligned with AWS/GCP well-architected frameworks.
- Architect, develop, and enforce DevSecOps & SRE practices; author and implement CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automated provisioning of new GCP projects and AWS accounts.
- Collaborate with Networking and Cybersecurity to design secure cloud networking topologies; create Terraform/CloudFormation templates; enforce application and data security standards.
- Work with global stakeholders and external consulting partners (onsite/offshore) to meet regulatory and data residency requirements.
- Communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences; provide executive-level strategic value.
- Provide architectural guidance to application and data teams aligned with cloud-native principles and data governance.
Qualifications
- Minimum undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or related field.
- 10+ years hands-on experience as a Cloud Platform Architect (or similar) in large enterprise organizations or with cloud hyperscalers.
- Minimum 5 years working closely with external consulting partners across mixed onsite/offshore teams.
Required/Preferred Skills
- Expert-level architectural knowledge of AWS and/or GCP.
- Strong DevSecOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation skills (e.g., Python, Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet).
- Deep cloud networking knowledge (VPCs, Transit Gateways, Interconnects, NCC, firewalls, load balancers) and Cloud IAM.
- Strong application and data security architecture skills.
- Self-starter with ownership mindset; ability to think strategically about a 3-year roadmap while troubleshooting blockers.
Nice to Have
- Prior BioPharma/Life Sciences industry experience.
- Familiarity with Life Sciences functions (R&D, Drug Development/Clinical, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Medical Affairs, Commercial) and common GxP/regulated use cases.
