The Associate Director, Category Management of Primary Packaging Injectables partners with VP-level business or functional stakeholders to develop global procurement strategies, define strategic value drivers with key category suppliers, secure collaborative partnerships, and achieve performance targets.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end procurement: develop global strategies, monitor contracts, and execute process improvements for the Primary Packaging Injectables category.
- Build the annual strategic plan aligned with business goals.
- Lead cross-functional teams (primarily at AbbVie manufacturing sites) using market intelligence and industry trend/technology monitoring.
- Define strategic value drivers with key suppliers to enable collaboration, cost savings, process optimization, and increased procurement value.
- Integrate sustainability/ESG measures into category strategies with suppliers.
- Lead Supplier Management & Innovation (SMI) strategies to drive innovation and long-term solutions.
- Develop and activate procurement risk mitigation strategies, ensuring compliance.
- Manage strategic projects from initiation to completion; use data analytics for continuous improvement.
- Prepare for and lead supplier negotiations using analytical insight and a strategic long-term perspective.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Mgmt, or related field; Masterโs preferred.
- 10+ yearsโ experience in procurement, supply chain, or related functions.
- Experience leading category teams, partnering with suppliers, and reporting to senior leaders.
- Strong executive-level deliverable development.
- Pharmaceutical industry knowledge strongly preferred.
- Expertise in category management (market analysis, cost/financial assessment), negotiation/bidding, and change management.
- Strong internal stakeholder management and influence.
- Strategic thinking, accountability, innovative problem-solving, conflict resolution, and high emotional intelligence.
