The Associate Director, Category Management of Primary Packaging Injectables partners with VP-level business or functional stakeholders to develop global procurement strategies, define strategic value drivers with key category suppliers, secure collaborative partnerships, and achieve ambitious performance targets.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end procurement processes; develop global procurement strategies; monitor contracts; execute process improvements for the Primary Packaging Injectables category.
- Build a comprehensive annual strategic plan aligned with business goals.
- Lead a cross-functional team (primarily within manufacturing sites) using market intelligence and awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Define and develop strategic value drivers with key suppliers to drive cost savings, process optimization, and increased procurement value.
- Integrate sustainability and ESG measures into category strategies and sourcing practices.
- Lead Supplier Management & Innovation (SMI) strategies to enable long-term supplier innovation.
- Develop and activate procurement risk mitigation strategies to ensure compliance.
- Manage projects from initiation to completion; use data analytics for continuous improvement.
- Prepare for negotiations and lead supplier negotiations using analytical insight and a strategic, long-term perspective.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Mgmt, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or related operations/business functions.
- Experience leading category teams, partnering with major suppliers, and reporting to senior leaders.
- Strong ability to produce executive-level deliverables; pharmaceutical industry knowledge strongly preferred.
- Expertise in category management, market analysis, cost/financial assessment, negotiation/bidding, and complex project/change management.
- Strong internal stakeholder management and influence; strategic thinking and accountability.
- Innovative problem-solving, executive presence, cross-functional leadership, conflict resolution, and high interpersonal/emotional intelligence.
