Job Summary:
The Associate Director, AI Engineering – Operations Transformation will lead the development, deployment, and management of advanced artificial intelligence solutions to drive operational excellence across AbbVie’s manufacturing and supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the AI strategy for Operations, aligning initiatives with AbbVie’s priorities for efficiency, quality, and innovation.
- Identify, curate, and drive high-impact opportunities to apply AI/ML to operational challenges in manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and asset management.
- Lead cross-functional project teams to design, develop, and scale AI solutions (e.g., predictive maintenance, defect detection, demand forecasting, digital twins, intelligent automation).
- Integrate AI models with existing operations platforms (MES, SCADA, ERP) with seamless workflow and data governance.
- Establish best practices, frameworks, and governance for responsible AI development, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Develop talent, lead upskilling, and foster a culture of innovation and AI adoption across the operations workforce.
- Monitor emerging AI trends/technologies in manufacturing and regulated industries; advise on adoption and pilots.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (GxP, FDA) and data privacy/security standards for AI solutions.
- Present results, value, and recommendations to executive leadership and operational stakeholders.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or related field; PhD a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in AI/ML solution design and deployment, ideally in manufacturing, supply chain, or similar environments; pharmaceutical experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional technical teams and scaling of AI/ML applications in an operational setting.
- Deep knowledge of AI/ML tools/techniques (supervised/unsupervised learning, computer vision, NLP) and relevant technology stacks.
- Proficiency integrating AI into digital operations platforms and industrial automation systems.
- Strong communication, change management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Familiarity with GxP, FDA, and data privacy regulations as applied to AI and industrial data.
