Associate Director, U.S. Accounts Payable (AP)
Responsibilities
- Lead U.S. Accounts Payable operations (invoice processing, supplier inquiries, payment execution, issue resolution, month-end close support, audit support, and business partnership activities).
- Manage and develop AP team members (workload distribution, customer service, accountability, operational continuity).
- Oversee outsourced AP processing and serve as senior escalation point for suppliers and payment-related issues.
- Review/approve payment runs; monitor AP metrics, reporting, aging, and operational performance to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support AP-related close activities, SOX compliance, and audit/regulatory requests.
- Lead global AP process improvement initiatives (standardization, controls, scalability, automation, service delivery).
- Act as key liaison across Global AP, Procurement, Supplier Management, Treasury, Accounting, and Digital Technology & AI for AP projects, system enhancements, automation, and transformation.
- Lead AP integration efforts; provide SME expertise for ERP enhancements, workflow/reporting optimization, and digital transformation.
- Identify and advance AI-enabled AP opportunities (intelligent invoice processing, exception management, workflow automation, analytics, controls monitoring).
- Support change management, process documentation, training, and adoption of AP process/system changes.
Qualifications/Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive Accounts Payable experience with leadership responsibility for AP operations, controls, and service delivery.
- Strong knowledge of AP operations, internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial reporting impacts of AP transactions.
- ERP/AP technology experience (SAP and Ariba).
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive operational excellence.
- Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills; ability to use metrics/reporting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
Education
- Bachelorβs degree in accounting or related field.
