Associate Director, Access & Reimbursement (ADAR) — field-based role.
Major accountabilities:
- Interact with large, complex accounts to support patient access; provide in-person (or virtual as needed) face-to-face education to providers and staff to integrate products into workflows.
- Address questions on ordering, payment, inventorying, and product returns/replacement.
- Support patient access with executives, providers, billing/coding, claims, and revenue cycle managers.
- Analyze and resolve reimbursement issues with third-party payers at the provider level; identify trends and partner to improve access.
- Support pull-through on local coverage decisions; communicate policy changes impacting other departments.
- Inform customers about patient support programs (e.g., co-pay) to start and stay on therapy.
- Maintain expertise in local/regional access landscape and serve as reimbursement expert.
- Interface with Patient Support Center and Access & Reimbursement Managers on case management (tracking, issue resolution, reimbursement support, staff education).
- Coordinate cross-functionally; ensure integrity/compliance, handle PII appropriately (HIPAA/privacy).
- Identify and report adverse events.
Buy-and-bill specific:
- Assess access situation; develop/communicate Plan of Action.
- Educate on end-to-end buy-and-bill processes and facility pull-through, including centralized/decentralized acquisition and alternative channels (white/clear/brown bagging, alternate site administration).
- Educate on logistics (ordering/payment/inventory/returns).
- Engage non-prescribers (pharmacy, system leadership, financial counselors, admins, revenue cycle).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; business/biological science preferred; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years in pharma/biotech (Patient Services, Market Access, Sales, and/or account management), including 2+ years in a patient services practice support role for specialty products.
- Experience with complex practices/health systems; strategic proactive account management.
- Deep expertise integrating manufacturer-sponsored patient support programs.
- Specialty pharmacy network experience; knowledge of reimbursement pathways (specialty pharmacy, buy-and-bill, retail).
- Strong understanding of Commercial, Medicare, and state Medicaid in the region.
Preferred:
- Presentations to C-level executives; cross-functional collaboration; therapeutic area practice/reimbursement program expertise.
Requirements/skills:
- Must live within assigned territory; travel at least 50%.
- Driving is essential: fully valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

- Salary expected: $160,300–$297,700/year; performance cash incentive; possible annual equity.
