Role Summary

Associate Data Scientist at Pfizer. Responsible for assisting Data Management to leverage internal and external data assets to deliver business insights, implement automation and AI methods, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance tactical and strategic decision making. Requires understanding of Data Science, Clinical Trial data, and Data Management, with potential exposure to AI tools. Involves full Data Science lifecycle including data discovery, labeling, hypothesis creation, model selection, testing, evaluation, and operationalization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the manager in implementing global strategies, initiatives, processes, and standards to ensure consistent, efficient, and high-quality Data Science processes, meeting quality, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Run SQL queries to extract Operational, Clinical data and specifications from various information systems.
  • Assess and analyze data quality, understand business processes and their impact on data quality, and prepare data including labeling for ML experiments.
  • Pilot and build proofs-of-concept to demonstrate and test business value of ML models; understand model metrics and iteratively improve performance with tech leads and vendors.
  • Analyze, interpret, and summarize ML model results; operationalize and maintain the models.
  • Develop presentations and trainings for business users to increase understanding of AI, Data Science, and automation within Data Management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific or business-related discipline; degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field with equivalent experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage tasks, time, and priorities, and multi-task.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders globally.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience with Clinical data, SQL, and Analytics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python and/or R, SAS; implementing machine learning models.
  • SQL experience with relational databases (Postgres, Oracle, Microsoft).

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Some nonstandard work hours to cover global meetings or travel.
  • Hybrid work location (live within commuting distance and work on-site about 2.5 days per week).
