Working in the Border Security operations space, the Associate Border Security Analyst performs the day-to-day operations on Firewalls, IPS and IDS platforms and Zscaler.
Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day operational support of global network security infrastructure, including Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Panorama, Zscaler ZIA, ZPA, ZCC, Tufin and VPN technologies.
- Implement firewall and network security policy changes following change-management and security/operational procedures.
- Create, modify, troubleshoot, and remove firewall security policies, NAT policies, objects, services, and related configurations.
- Troubleshoot complex firewall, VPN, Zscaler, and network connectivity issues using logs, traffic analysis, packet captures, and Tufin.
- Support escalated network security incidents/problems: identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor infrastructure and proactively identify configuration, performance, connectivity, and security issues.
- Collaborate with network engineering, infrastructure, application, cloud, and security teams to resolve cross-functional issues.
- Participate in upgrades, migrations, maintenance, and technology implementations.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and configuration records.
- Participate in after-hours, weekend, and emergency support as required.
Qualifications (Required):
- Bachelor’s + 2 years related experience, or Master’s with 0 years.
- Experience in network engineering/security/firewall operations.
- Hands-on Palo Alto Networks firewall experience (policy creation/modification/troubleshooting/maintenance) and Panorama centralized management.
- Hands-on Zscaler (preferably ZIA, ZPA, ZCC).
- Strong TCP/IP, routing, NAT, DNS, VPN, and network security knowledge; strong troubleshooting of policies/connectivity/VPN.
- Experience in ITIL/change-management and enterprise change-control.
- Ability to analyze logs/flows/data to identify root causes.
- Strong verbal/written communication; ability to work independently and prioritize; extended-hours/weekend support.
Preferred:
- 5+ years experience; Palo Alto certifications (PCNSA/PCNSE/PCSAE); CCNA/CCNP; CISSP; large global enterprise experience; firewall automation, APIs, Python, or scripting.
