The Position:
Responsible for management of Novo Nordisk Inc.βs employee benefit programs, including vendor performance, financial tracking, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Lead RFPs, contract negotiations, and implementation of new/modified benefit programs and services; oversee existing plans. Identify and execute continuous process improvements using data-driven decision making. Evaluate and compare company benefits with other employers and recommend improvements to maintain competitiveness and cost effectiveness. Participate in benefit committees/counsels and other governance oversight.
Essential Functions:
- Manage benefits (medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k)/MPP, executive benefits, disability/leave, health & welfare administration, COBRA).
- Develop/manage compliance procedures (HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, ERISA, Internal Revenue Code).
- Interpret plan provisions; resolve conflicts and participant escalations.
- Lead RFPs and contract renewals; implement approved benefit changes with vendors.
- Manage vendor relationships; ensure compliant delivery and SLA achievement.
- Contribute to benefits communications strategy and global strategy expertise.
- Analyze market trends/cost drivers; perform cost modeling (leverage AI as possible).
- Support new business development and benefit integration; handle ad-hoc deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree (relevant experience may substitute).
- Advanced degree/certification (CEBS/CBP) preferred.
- 10+ years progressive HR/related experience; 6+ years in Benefits.
- Experience administering self-insured medical, 401(k), and/or disability plans (large corporation 1000+ employees preferred).
- Working knowledge of IRS, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ADA, FMLA.
- Strong vendor/cost/financial and benefits administration track record.
- Planning/prioritization, cross-functional stakeholder collaboration, analytical/problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Preferred: benefit plan design/negotiations; benefits due diligence (M&A); AI/digital innovation in Total Rewards.
Location/Travel:
Lexington, MA or Plainsboro, NJ; 30β40% overnight travel.
