Key Responsibilities:
- Lead highly complex, significantly impactful patent enforcement initiatives.
- Develop and execute litigation strategy across various jurisdictions, with a focus on the United States and Europe.
- Represent the company at meetings, hearings, and trials.
- Manage competing priorities in a changing global legal, regulatory, and scientific environment; provide input and strategy into foreign proceedings (e.g., European Patent Office, United Kingdom, German, Unified Patent Court).
- Interface with company leadership and senior business/legal employees.
- Communicate effectively, build teamwork across enforcement/defense activities, and drive key learnings into the department.
- Work closely with external counsel and internal stakeholders to develop and drive worldwide litigation strategy; ensure compliance with company policies and drive cost savings.
- Demonstrate innovation by providing unique solutions to complex legal issues.
- Drive AI solutions to support litigation management and outcomes.
Basic Qualifications:
- Qualified U.S. attorney; JD degree required.
- 8+ years of significant experience in complex patent litigation in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience at a major U.S. law firm and/or large corporate litigation department.
- Demonstrated experience with international IP litigations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive U.S. patent litigation experience (fact/expert discovery; motion practice through bench and jury trials), including experience arguing to the court.
- Advanced scientific degree and registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Strong teamwork orientation.
- Creative, strategic approach to IP development/enforcement.
- Ability to communicate confidently with senior management.
