Assistant Director, Patent Agent

Role: Patent Agent supporting global patent portfolio management for Ionis' RNA- and DNA-targeted technologies, with a focus on pharmaceuticals and biotech inventions. Responsibilities: draft and prosecute patent applications, monitor US and international patent dockets, conduct patentability and landscape analyses, support patent litigation, and assist with publication clearance and IP due diligence. Collaborate closely with scientists, senior patent counsel, and external counsel. Requirements: USPTO-registered patent agent; 3-5 years' experience in pharma/biotech patent law; degree in biology, biochemistry, or related fields; proven patent drafting and prosecution skills. Preferred: advanced scientific degree, experience with patent searches and legal research, ability to prepare executive-level presentations.
