Position Overview
- Lead accounting and finance activities supporting accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls; ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
- Report to the Corporate Controller; provide technical accounting expertise, operational execution, and hands-on team leadership (hybrid; regular attendance in Bedford, MA).
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & SEC Compliance
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the accounting team to ensure accurate/timely monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
- Review monthly close deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules).
- Produce internal and external financial statements accurately and on time.
- Maintain U.S. GAAP compliance; monitor emerging FASB/SEC guidance.
- Prepare and review SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K).
- Liaise with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audit.
- Collaborate cross-functionally; partner with FP&A to align reporting and forecasting.
Technical Accounting and Policy
- Provide technical accounting guidance (revenue recognition, R&D expense accounting, inventory/valuation, debt and equity).
- Draft/implement/maintain accounting policies (white papers as needed).
- Lead implementation of new accounting standards and coordinate impact assessments.
Annual Audit, Internal Controls & SOX Compliance
- Key contact for external auditors; prepare schedules and documentation.
- Assist with annual audits and quarterly reviews.
- Support maintenance of internal control environment (SOX Section 404).
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting and financial systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
- 15+ years relevant experience.
- Public accounting and mid-sized public biotech/pharma experience preferred.
- Strong U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting knowledge.
- SOX expertise; ability to implement/maintain financial controls and policies.
- Experience with month-end close, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and project management; ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
- Collaborative, consultative team player in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation
- Salary range: $200,000β$227,000 USD.
