Role Summary

The Area Sales Director Dermatology - Central leads development and execution of business strategies for the Dermatology portfolio at national and Area levels, partnering with District Managers to ensure sales performance and organization growth. This role focuses on building a new field sales organization, strategic brand planning, budget analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to meet company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • The Area Sales Director leads development and execution of business strategies to deliver or exceed sales expectations at Area and National levels; motivates a team of sales leaders and professionals to achieve exceptional sales performance.
  • Recruit, hire and coach District Managers and assist in recruiting high-performing sales professionals within the area.
  • Develop an inspiring vision and high-performance culture; drive results with a long-term strategic view and immediate impact.
  • Foster learning and growth, building capabilities in partnership with Human Resources and Commercial Learning & Development.
  • Provide ongoing performance management with measurable outcomes; give regular feedback and actionable development plans.
  • Serve as a leader and mentor across cross-functional teams to support internal talent development.
  • Establish relationships with industry professionals and key customers in the Area and Nation.
  • Manage the area budget, build business cases for investment and financial decisions with Sales and Marketing leadership.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Access, Analytics & Insights, Therapeutic Policy & Advocacy, and Medical leadership.
  • Partner with Commercial Learning & Development to create leadership and selling skills training for Field Leadership Meetings and National Sales meetings.
  • Contribute to performance objectives and incentive plans; oversee communication planning and management of sales incentives and awards.
  • Advise Senior Leadership on market trends and competitive information.
  • Maintain high professional standards and foster a culture of ethical behavior and integrity; ensure adherence to policies and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA); 10 years of sales and marketing experience in the pharmaceutical industry; minimum 5 years of management-level experience in pharma/biotech/medical devices; 5+ years of people management with proven success in achieving sales targets.
  • Preferred: 2+ years’ experience managing first-line leaders; dermatology experience; relevant clinical or cross-functional experience (training and development, marketing, sales force effectiveness, commercial operations); comfort with digital tools and AI-enabled processes.
