The Area Business Director (ABD) is responsible for driving regional/area performance through strategic leadership, coaching, and development of Key Account Managers (KAMs).

Responsibilities:
- Own and deliver regional sales performance (team of 4–6 KAMs)
- Translate national strategy into regional/territory execution plans
- Analyze performance trends, market dynamics, and competition to guide strategy/resources
- Set and coach clear performance expectations, KPIs, and accountability frameworks
- Identify risks/opportunities early and adjust strategy to meet goals
- Lead customer/decision-maker engagement across IDN, hospital, infusion clinic leadership, KOLs
- Coach and develop KAMs via field engagement (joint calls, account reviews, real-time feedback)
- Build capabilities in strategic account management and complex selling/clinical acumen
- Attract, develop, retain talent; create individualized development plans and succession strategies
- Maintain executive relationships with key institutions/health systems/KOLs
- Ensure compliant execution of marketing/tactical plans; oversee admin/compliance (T&E, reporting, SOP, Sunshine Act)
- Drive CRM/analytics use to monitor performance and optimize resource deployment
- Collaborate cross-functionally (Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs) and act as a field-to-leadership feedback loop

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (MBA/MPH/PharmD or related)
- 10+ years pharmaceutical sales experience
- Proven leadership experience in specialty pharma sales with field team management
- Demonstrated results in complex, competitive markets through others
- Strong understanding of drug development/commercialization and specialty market dynamics
- Advanced strategic/analytical skills; exceptional coaching/communication/influencing
- Ability to lead in a matrixed organization; leverage cross-functional resources
- Business acumen, accountability, execution focus
- Preferred: knowledge of target geography; experience in institutional/IDN environments; prior regional/multi-state ownership; established relationships with healthcare systems/KOLs
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Required travel within region as needed; ~75% travel overall
